The seed catalogues are
bursting with choice so to help you find the varieties of
annual flowers you need for your garden, I've selected the
twenty best varieties in each of these categories. Just
click on the choice to see the full list.
Hardy annuals are
raised from seed by sowing outside in the garden in
spring; they flower and die later the same season.
They're easy to grow but seed in individual colours
may be hard to find.
Half hardy annuals are plants from seed each year
in a warm environment then planted outside in late
spring for a colourful summer display. In warm
climates they can be sown in the garden although
the seed can be expensive.
