Raising annuals
indoors From
Bedding
Plants Raising plants on the
windowsill Plants raised on windowsills indoors will not
usually match the quality of those raised in better
conditions in the greenhouse. However, once planted
out they have a habit of catching up as summer
growth develops. If you can tolerate propagators
and pots scattered around the house, then take
advantage of the differing light conditions
afforded by windows of different aspects and the
varying temperatures available in different rooms
in the house. By moving seedlings and young plants
from one place to another as they grow, and as the
season warms, it is possible to minimize the
effects of the low, one-sided lighting and of the
dry atmosphere.
