This is a
great little book. I like the pictures, which show real
plants in real gardens rather than the artificial
'front-of-a-seed-packet' look seen in many of the less
expensive books, and I like the way a little background
information is used to shed light on the way to grow
individual plants.
The major plants like petunias, sweet peas, begonias and
impatiens are dealt with individually while natural groups
lkike Texas summer annuals and everlasting flowers are
grouped together. Along with recommended varieties each
plant has it Planting Help section with seed raising and
growing advice.
This photographer/writer team has been responsoible for some
of the most useful larger reference books on a wide range of
plants, the Random House Guides (USA)/Garden Plant Series
(UK). The Plant Chooser series combines the same wonderful
pictures and authoritative text in a small format. Great
value.
