Books on annuals Annuals edited by Ted Marston (1993) One of the Hearst Garden Guides, this book is based on Elvin MacDonald's original work for the Good Housekeeping Illustrated Encyclopaedia of Gardening. With its expert editor it combines the work of two of the country's authorities on the subject together with many photographs by Andrew Lawson, one of Britain's leading plant photographers. Utterly dependable and full of good, basic information the book is arranged in an A-Z format augmented by a pronunciation guide, valuable common name/botanical name cross references and a star system of ranking to provide instant advice for newcomers to the subject. There are recommendations of varieties, guidance on how best to raise them, plenty of pictures and all in all the book combines plenty of good information, without in the least being intimidating, with some helpful ways of presenting information &endash; at a good price.
