Trends in annuals From Country
Life Colours Colours come in
fashions and in recent years two
things have been happening. Separate
colours have become more widely available
alongside the mixtures, and pastel colours
like the soft shades of pansy 'Ultima
Silhouette' and the rose, salmon and cream
of Phlox 'Coral Reef' have taken
everyone's fancy. From
the Spring Gardens Number of Country Life,
1995 Now, I sense that the seed companies
are becoming more cautious about separate
colours and at the same time customers are
starting to return to hotter, fierier
shades. Following the award of a
Fleuroselect medal to the bright orange
pansy 'Padparadja', Unwins have special
spring pansy mix called 'Psychodelia' in a
blend of purple and orange with a purple
and orange bicolour. Mr Fothergills have a
patriotic blend of red, white and blue
petunias, 'Celebrity Bunting'. More on Trends in annuals
