Papaver
(Poppy) The enormous success of the single-flowered
'Mother of Pearl' poppies in soft shades of pink
and lilac plus greys and some pretty picotee forms
inspired Thompson & Morgan Seeds to develop
this double-flowered version. The colours fill much
the same range: white, grey misty pinks and lilacs,
rose and apricot pinks and some interesting
picotees. Occasionally single-flowered or
red-flowered plants appear. 'Angels Choir' was outstanding when entered in
the Fleuroselect trials and its delightfully
informal habit makes it ideal for integrating into
mixed borders. It will self sow prolifically in the garden but
in succeeding years more single-flowered plants,
and those in brighter colours, may appear so it's
preferable to dead-head the plants and buy fresh
seed for the following year. ©copyright
